I hope you can help me with this. This iPod is very important to me.
Okay, here's what happened. My iTouch got wet and took everyone's advice about putting it in with rice. Well yes, that really worked. I was so happy but then three weeks later, I was charging it, I checked it if it was fully charged, It wasn't then I opened Safari, IT WENT OFF. Yes, I tried to turn it on again but it never worked. I panicked so I left it in my drawer for like 1 month because I was so scared of what happened and now.. I tried to charge it but the iTouch heated up but it wouldn't turn on and that day, I started searching what to do.. Some people also experienced this. They were told to hold the home button and the lock button for like seconds. I did it but it didn't work. Then I also saw that if you didn't use your iTouch for like 5 weeks or more, you need a new battery. Do you recommend me getting a new battery + If I bring them to the Genius people, would they know that it got wet If I let them repair it? Please help me with this. Don't let me down.

Well you shouldn't need a new battery just because it sat for a few weeks. More likely what happened is that when it got wet, the battery shorted out (this is a very bad thing) and that can completely drain the battery and damage it.
If it is out of warranty, it doesn't matter if it got wet (and yes, they will probably be able to determine if it got wet), because they won't fix it for free. The other bit of bad news is that they don't actually fix it. When I broke my original iPod Touch, I contacted Apple Care and their solution was for me to send it to them along with $199.00 and they would send me a refurbished unit in return. It was a very hard (and expensive!) lesson to learn. Even though my damaged iPod Touch as 18gb, I ended up buying a brand new 8gb 2nd generation iPod Touch for the same amount of money it would have cost to exchange my old one. Live and learn! |
