I've downloaded a book to iTunes and want to transfer it to my iPod.

When I connect the iPod to the USB port, iTunes opens automatically and syncs the iPod as usual.

When I check the iPod files in iTunes the book is there. After I disconnect the iPod and I check for the book, it does not show up.

I went through the usual reset and software update and everything is to spec.
The book is 115MB and I have 11.5GB free space.

Any suggestions ?

What iPod?

From where did you download an ebook and how did you get it into iTunes?

What app are you using to read the ebook on your iPod?

Its and audio book, and it is an mp3 file.
I've designated it as an audio book and it shows up that way in iTunes.

If I had known that God moderated this forum I would have dressed properly.
Great avatar !

LMAO... Good one DiColl. God Loves Macs and around here we like to call he Bob

As for your issue, just for the sake of troubleshooting download the free trial of Senuti and try to transfer it using that.

Also, may you are missing an iTunes update. Is it an iPod Classic or Touch? even though it shouldn't matter.

Where are you looking on the iPod?

An mp3 may not show up under the audiobooks section on your iPod.
You have looked in 'Music' for it, both by title and by artist?

(btw: an ebook is a text based book, not an audio file)

Found it !

In iTunes the file shows up under books.
When the iPod is connected, the file also shows up under books (iPod menu inside iTunes)
When the iPod is on its own, the book shows up under songs.
I have an older 20GB iPod and I do have the latest software updates.
Well, as long as its there.

Sorry about the misnomer with the eBook.
I usually know the difference.

Thanks for your help guys.

Yeah, the older iPods will not put an audiobook under the audiobook section unless that's it's file type. Just selecting the software option that's available in the newer versions of iTunes won't move it there.

If you do a lot of audiobooks (and from places other than Audible or iTunes) you might want to check into AudioBook Builder. It can be well worth the $10. It will easily do many things including joining multiple mp3s into a single file, chapter markers and changing the file type so that iTunes and the older iPods will recognize them as an audiobook.
