ipod touche trouble

hi, my 8gb ipod touch doesn't connect with my macbook air.
when i connect it to the usb port i get a signal for power and recharge but nothing appears on the desktop. Itunes don't see it either. ipod IS recharging and all software are updated. anyone any hint?

First, have you tried doing a reset of the iPod? (hold down the home button, and top button at the same time for about 5 seconds)

Try checking out Disk Utility. if it shoes up there you may be able to erase it, and then have iTunes load back on the OS. I had to do it once, but other times it did not show up at all. good luck.
