If your car has an "AUX IN" line anywhere, you can get yourself one of these.

If not, then you can roam around here and pick out some nice looking ones with good reviews.

I'll pick some out with good reviews and link them back here for you

Question: What is your budget?

Griffin AutoPilot - 4 stars - $50

Monster iCarPlay - 4 stars - $25

Thanks for the response. I really appreciate it. However, I don't think the first one you posted plays music through the car stereo. At least not with the newest ipod classic 160. Anyone know of any good websites where I can find something? And as far as what my budget is...I don't want to spend any more than 50. =P

The 1st one he posted is exactly what you want if as he posted your stereo has an AUX IN port.

Yeah, this isn't nearly as straightforward as it should be. I really don't understand why car audio is so hacker hostile. I have a 2004 Kia with a factory stereo. I have yet to find a good way to do it. I have a cheap FM-transmitter deal, but it gets interference, even with my antenna down. A hard-wired solution would be awesome, but seems to require a new stereo.

Anyone tried the $50 ones Walmart is selling with a USB power jack and aux in on front? (Just looked, don't see it online...)

My other thought is getting inexpensive amp and wiring it in and running my ipod through it....I can do the wiring...it's finding the cheap and workable components that is the challenge!

a $50 head unit? That depends on what the product is and the quality of said product.

If you want a head unit in your car, I (varies with other people) would only trust a reputable name brand, such as Kenwood, Alpine, and Pioneer. Actually, those are the only three I would consider buying. The head unit I have in my car is a Kenwood KDC-MP242. You do not have to buy from those three only. I have seen other good ones too.

I personally wouldn't buy anything from Wal-Mart that ran off my car's computer unless it was name branded accessory like an iPod or phone charger, and some male-male audio cables. Other than that, go to Best Buy or a car audio specialist to purchase a head unit.

Do some research before you go into the store, do not trust employees, because lots of my experiences dealt with people who glorified a product. Look for customer reviews, build quality, features, price, and compatibility. And if you're feeling up to it, decide if you want to install yourself or have a professional do it. Installing a new head unit in your car will require you connect a bunch of wires, (and depending on the car) taking your dash panels apart (note that you may only have to use keys to slide your unit out of the dash, depending on the car), and wiring.

My head unit was $150, and you can probably get it on the internet cheaper. I'm in love with it and have had no problems with it whatsoever. I would actually recommend it.

If you want to integrate it with a factory stereo, there are lots of kits out there that plug into the CD changer or XM radio port on the back of the unit (if it's equipped). Check out Logjamelectronics.com and also DICE.

I have a 2007 Honda Accord and a DICE integration unit. I can read the track names right on the stereo's display and control the iPod through the radio controls both on the steering wheel and the unit itself. I had experimented with a ton of different FM modulators and in my experience, they all suck and can be very distracting.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
