iPod Touch - Ipod Touch 2G no sound

Ok my ipod touch 2g started having a problem with whenever i play a song, video, games, etc. nothing comes out but static. Nothing comes out of the built in speaker or if i plug in headphones but static. Sometimes i can reboot my ipod and the sound would come back but now it does not anymore. Anyone have any idea of whats wrong with my Ipod?

Sounds like a hardware fault. Just take it back under gaurantee if it is still under a year old.
