iPod - ipod shuffle 1st

Was wanting a little advise. I was going to purchase a 1st generation shuffle. The item is brand new. Will i have a problem using it these days. Will it work like the newer generation ipods? Don't want to buy it, plug it in my mbp only to find out it won't work.

The iPod shuffle 1st gen is still usable on iTunes and can also be used as a flash drive. It does not require a cable as it plugs directly into the USB port on your MBP. It doesn't have a click wheel or screen like a regular iPod and only can do music.
