Or is it just me? More than a little disappointing to break the seal on a new device from the apple store and then be charged $10 to get the currently advertised feature set.

Yep, per Apple this is the case. Disappointing, I think I'll contact our corp apple sales person tomorrow and register a complaint about it. Lame.

It's lame enough that they have the nerve to charge for a firmware upgrade in the first place. I would certainly complain, nicely but firmly and loudly until you get a credit of some sort.
Please verify and include the exact model/year of your Mac and OS X version number (available from "About This Mac", then "More Info" on the Apple menu).
