iPod Touch - Mail Issues

Hi everybody,

My Mom has an iPod touch and she loves it, and my Stepdad recently gained one as well with the purchase of my new MacBook. My Mom has had hers for a while, and the only thing that she has had trouble with is getting her account settings for Mail set up correctly. It will receive mail, but it will not send mail. It says that an outgoing server password is invalid, and when we try and fix that, it comes up that the outgoing server is incorrect. Today we got my Step-dad's all geared up and ready to go, and we are having some of the same problems with his as well. We synced the accounts with outlook from within iTunes so it should work taking the settings automatically. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to do here?

Hey what is the domain name. Yahoo.gmail.so on so on

it its through mindspring it is a pop3 incoming server and smtp outgoing

if the email youre using is Hotmail, you cant get POP for that. you would to actually merge your hotmail into a gmail account, then use the gmail.

Are you sure that it's not pop3 for incoming and smtp for outgoing?

yeah thats right its pop3 for incoming and smtp for outgoing, i apologize for the mix-up. it isnt a web based email service like gmail or aol mail, it runs through outlook on her computer.

you may need to check this option in the mail settings.

select settings from the home screen

then mail

select the email account

go to the section for the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

enter in the user name and password there, this hopefully should correct the problem. If it does not make sure everything is spelled correctly.
