Well... I was sitting in my ICT class today and went to push the home button on my iPhone to see what time it was... it didn't turn on. I pressed the 'on/off' button at the top.. still nothing... i had charged it that night so it was fully charged so I was worrying incase it was broken or something. So i reset it (using a one of my earrings) and still... completely dead. So I came home to see if i had maybe not had the charger plug in right and the battery was dead, i put the iPhone in its dock and it came on, fully charged. the screen went off (as usual after a few seconds) and when i pressed the home button again (still plugged in) it did the same thing it did in my ICT class- dead again...

Ive done a restore on it and it seems to be working ok...

My main worry is that its a hardware problem.. Its still under the 1 year warranty but i haven't kept the receipt or anything.. will they charge me extra just to fix it even though it hasn't even been out in the UK for a year so its obvious that its still under warranty? Or is it just a problem with the latest update? (installed 1.1.3 the night it was released)

so um... anyone got any clues to why this happened or anything? :/ its not even 3 months old yet...

iReplaced a PC.

Ok well, i wenty back to college jsut after posting this and it happened again... note: this is minutes after i did the restore... I plugged it in one of the macs in the colelge (took the lead just incase) andit came on again... I looked through all the settings and such and i found the 'reset all settings and delete all media'. .so i clicked that and now everything seems to be fine... im really confused on what to do here. I dont want to take it to the apple store and have it make a liar out of me :/

mine did this about 3am in the pub lol i just held power and home untill the apple logo showed up and it has been fine since then. but i am running 1.1.2 not 1.1.3 so it will prob not be the same thing.

but yes the problem will get fixed as they should check the serial number of the iphone to see how old it is just like they do with macbooks and ipod so it should be fine if its a hardware problem.

sorry man it sucks only had my iphone 3days and would cry if it broke

I'm not sure where you're sticking pins, but it's definitely not the way to reset an iPhone. Like proxy said, you're supposed to hold the Home and Power buttons until you see the silver Apple logo.

Hehe. Yeah, popping the SIM out doesn't reset it.

If it happens again, take it to Apple and tell them it keeps happening.

thanks guys, and oops! i read somewhere that the little hold on the top was the reset button! I really should stop believing what i read on the internet haha

well anyway, it seems to be acting ok for now... im going to the apple store monday (Get a keyboard - w00t!) so i'll see how it goes and i might have a word with them anyway ^^

thankyou for replying!

EDIT: sorry, forgot to mention- I did hold down the home button and power button but that got me no where, thats why i was so worried about it. (I did type this before in reply to Proxy.. but i lost internet connection just as I hit the submit button >_> )
