Most probably June.

Possible Updates:
1) 3G
2) Flash for camera
3) faster processor.

I think the base software should remain relatively the same as the old iPhone (of course, with lots of new apps and such.) They might charge existing iPhone users for a software upgrade though

1. No one knows. Your guess is as good as anyone's.

2. That depends entirely on your needs, desires, and budget.

3. I think that once the 2nd gen is released, people will already be talking about the 3rd gen. Then the question will be, "Buy now or wait for the 3rd gen?" If the current one satisfies your needs, then buy one. If it doesn't, then either wait or get something else that *will* satisfy your needs.

Good luck!

The only thing known for sure is 3G is coming this year. But for all we know, that could be December 31st.

My current contract runs out in October, so I might consider getting one then. Hopefully the updates will be out by then.

I would wait for the second generation if I were you. If your phone works now what's the use in upgrading to an iPhone now when they're going to be upgrading it in a few months.

The current iPhone speed isnt that bad. The WiFi is great but the EDGE network isnt terribly slow. Sure, its not as fast as the WiFi connection but it has pretty good speed.

Yeah, it can be done - but for a premium. Are enough people willing to pay that premium to motivate apple to produce them?

I don't want it any thinner. I think the size is perfect as is. ANy thinner and it becomes uncomfortable.

They could make it as thin as the iPod Touch. Now that's slim!

Possibly November this year, but no one knows. Whether or not you buy one is down to your personal needs. Do you need one/want one/have an alternative phone etc.

Yep. Slightly shorter and thinner, same screen resolution, and lighter.
