So Germany T-Mobile force to sell unlocked iPhones - but with a HEAVY price tag!!

Effective immediately, T-Mobile said it will begin offering the unlocked iPhone, which can function on other wireless networks, for 999 euros ($1,470). It will also continue to sell a version tied to its own network with a two year service contract for 399 euros ($590).

It will probably be a similar price in France when it's (unlocked version) launched later this month.

It's a shame that they aren't doing the same in the UK, all those people locked to O2's pathetic contract for 18 months. 200 minutes and texts for £35pm, rip-off. Yes there's unlimited internet browsing but Edge is so slow and O2 only has 30% coverage.

Personally i'd rather wait for the next iPhone with a better camera, HSDPA (or at least 3G), and less money grabbing restrictions like the ringtones.

In the meantime i'm happy with my 80Gb iPod and my LG Viewty.
