Cisco owns trademark for iPhone

Quote:
"Cisco entered into negotiations with Apple in good faith after Apple repeatedly asked permission to use Cisco's iPhone name," said Mark Chandler, Cisco senior vice president and general counsel, in a statement. "There is no doubt that Apple's new phone is very exciting, but they should not be using our trademark without our permission."

Cisco is seeking injunctive relief to prevent Apple from copying Cisco's iPhone trademark.
Yikes. I'd have thought they would have nailed this down prior to the Macworld expo. neye: Seems uncharacteristically sloppy.

Sounds like we'll hear about an "Apple"-phone pretty soon then...

(Just a suggestion but maybe an apple logo smilie would be a good idea?)

Granted Cisco is the iPhone trademark, but when have they used it?

doesn't matter, it belongs to them(Cisco). apple should have finalized and verified things first b4 doing something this stupid. careless really.

plus, as the article states, Cisco does have an iphone out in production for VoiP

Quote:
And three weeks ago, Cisco's Linksys division put the trademark to use, releasing an Internet phone called "iPhone" that uses the increasingly popular Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.

From a G4 400MHz to an Intel Mac Mini to iMac Core Duo to a Macbook Pro 2.6GHz.............gotta love Apple!
