I just switched on my iPhone 4 to find my contacts have disappeared? Any suggestions please?

Sync with your Mac - it's possible the contacts are on your machine and can simply be brought over.

Thank you. Have tried that but I try to accept iCloud terms and conditions and then the phone cant connect to server? I have an Internet connection.

Do you use iCloud? If not, your Mac should have the contacts on the machine (so just sync your iPhone with your Mac). If you do, simply login to iCloud on your iPhone.
