iPhone videos not working on computer/iPhoto

I have a few videos that I took on my iPhone 4s, and I tried uploading them onto my MacBook iPhoto. I plug my phone in, and the videos upload. When I try to watch them in iPhoto or drag them onto my desktop to watch them, they don't play properly. They are choppy and the video lags SO much (sound is perfect though)...(my computer is all updated, so is my phone...and the videos play perfectly on my phone).
Do you know why this is or how I can fix it so I can save the videos on my computer!!? In a related issue, someone else with an iPhone sent me a video and its blurry and distorted on my phone but plays perfectly clear on theirs. HELP!!
MacBook: Version 10.6.8

That's just rather… bizarre. Try playing that video in a different player. I assume you were using Quicktime on the Mac, so try VLC and see if that's any different.
Please verify and include the exact model/year of your Mac and OS X version number (available from "About This Mac", then "More Info" on the Apple menu).
