I purchased the 4S on the day it came out and haven't had any issues at all to this date until earlier this evening. I was on the phone and all of the call failed. I looked at my service bar and it was showing I had 4/5 bars. Then my service will cut off for about 30-45 minutes where I should clearly have full service. It also does this with the voicemail. I have no idea what's going on.

I've had AT&T for years. This happened occasionally on my old Razr and I had to turn it off and then back on and all was fine. I don't think it is an Iphone issue. It hasn't happened on the 4S yet but I am sure it will sooner or later.

I just reset all of the settings on the phone and let it reboot and everything is fine know. Turning it on and off never solved the problem. Hopefully it's not a recurring issue because it's a nuisance that shouldn't happen.

Funny u post this cause for the first time in 3 years with an iPhone I got the same red dot notification last weekend.. I was in the basement at my work so I don't get AT&T down there anyway just wifi
