I have the blackberry torch but I'm buying an iPhone 3GS, if I get the iPhone unlocked will I be able to use my blackberry sim in it with no trouble?

Thanks

If it's the same network you shouldn't even need to have it unlocked, if it's a different network unlocking it will make it work fine

For my purposes as an engineering undergraduate; Windows is respectable (& generally necessary), Linux is admirable (& often useful), OS X is enjoyable (& requires no further justification, although plenty could be given)!

I am assuming you are on AT&T, I have switched from the 3gs to the torch and from the torch to a 3gs the only thing you will need to do is call AT&T and get them to switch your IMEI number over so that you can use the data on the 3gs.
