Sound for mail reception on the iPhone 4?

Is there a way I can set up my iPhone 4 to "ding" or play some sound when I receive an email? Still learning... thanks in advance.

It already does that by default if your phone isn't muted.

I've sent myself several emails; I received them all but there was no sound. Do I need to change a setting somewhere? The phone is not muted.
