Is there any way to back up the music on your iphone or if not the music, then for it to remember what music you had on there as with the applications etc? I cant do this via syncing music as I manage music manually as I have approx 40GB of music in the library.

Help appreciated as as present if I update or need to restore I have to go through adding every album again.

Hello and welcome aboard. There are several ways to do this , the two ways I have done it in the past are to simply make a playlist that has all the music you want or go thru and " un- check" the music you don't want . This will allow you you only sync the music you want and keep your currant playlists .

Hope this helps
