I read a thread on here a minute ago about someones jailbroken iphone..how do you doi it? is it illegal? easy to do? someone explain please.

Jailbreaking isn't illegal..and you can use a variety of programs to do it including [goes onto list software and projects not open for discussion here]

Yes, it is illegal under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, one may not break encryption mechanisms. These programs do exactly that. And that being the case, this topic is not open for discussion here.
