I've been hearing about factory unlocked iPhones, and am wondering if they are available in the US. Also wondering if they work with Virgin Mobile.

Does anyone know?

eMac 1.5ghz, 256mb ram, 40gb hdd, Sony cd burner
2g iPod Shuffle 1gb, 2g iPod Touch 16gb

The factory unlocked iPhones are not sold by Apple in the U.S. But they can be bought on ebay (where I got mine)
Virgin Mobile USA is not a GSM network so the iPhone is not compatible at all.

If you're in the UK, it should work as Virgin Mobile UK is just T-Mobile UK with worse tariffs and a different name, but I'm not sure about the US.

Your mistaken. Virgin Mobile is a CDMA network, which piggy backs off of the spint's cdma network. And you can find factory unlock phones that run off of CDMA's network like the one on Verizon's network. I believe there are iphone 4's on the cricket network both in Canada and virgin mobile in the uk. So if you get your hands on one and it works let me know i would love to try it.

Take note of the date of that post, as it was from two years ago. When it was written, there were no CDMA iPhones.
