iPhone AT&T plan info

Hello, I have wanted an iPhone on AT&T for along time now, but I could only convince my dad to let me buy one off ebay and use it on T-Mobile.

However, I'm getting tired of not having data, and I'm looking to switch to AT&T for christmas. However, I have a question about plan pricing.

NOTE: My plan would consist of, four phones which include two iPhones for my brother and I, 700 minutes, texting, and the data plan.

My question is, would I have to pay $30 for one data plan and share that with my brother? Or does AT&T mandate that each iPhone in a family plan need its own data plan?

Mac Specs: 2.16GHz C2D MacBook w/ 2GB RAM & 120GB HD. HTC G1 on AT&T.
Each iPhone needs it's one data plan. No sharing. So $30 per iPhone.

ok thanks, thats a complete rip off then... I'll probably end up going with verizon, unless they require a data plan per phone.

You can't use your iPhone on Verizon since that's a CDMA network and the iPhone (in the US) only supports GSM..

As far as I know every carrier requires each device to have it's own dedicated data plan, they will allow you to share the voice minutes..

Regards

Why can't you buy the iPhone then cancel the data plan a month later?

Until recently AT&T allow you to get any non-iPhone smartphone, keep the data plan for about 3 months from when you got it and then cancel the data plan. That changed and now EVERY smartphone has to have the data plan attached to it. The iPhones have always required a data plan, you COULD use it without one (I did when I initially got my unlocked iPhone), but even with simple Internet access and pay-per-access data usage, the charges are just RIDICULOUS..

If you're going to get an iPhone, you're going to want to use the Internet and you're definitely going to want to get the data plan..

Regards

Yea I know that iPhones won't work on verizon. I meant that I think i'm going to go to verizon and get something like the storm and share the data plan with my family. That is, if it is shareable. If not, then cell companies rip us off.

Like I said, I have an iPhone on tmobile and only get calls and texts. So no reason to go to AT&T and then cancel the data plan. Would be the same thing.

From what I know , you need to jailbreak the iPhone and download the Tzones hack from Cydia.
