iphone screen...to cover or not to cover?

What do you guys think? Is it sturdy enough not to require a screen protector and not be worried about scratches? or is a screen protector something needed for complete peace of mind?

most things will not scratch the screen based on my experience with the version 1 iphone.. however, i dropped it a couple times and i did come away with a couple of scratches.. if u dont drop it, things like keping it in your pocket with other things arent going to scratch the screen.. but a drop on your drive way will.
