My current oooold school phone has stoped ringing and is acting up. I am looking for ideas on phones. I would prefer an iphone but they are hard to come by in Canada. I was looking at the Blackberry Pearl 8130. On there site it says you can download a software to sync your adress book and ical from the mac. Anyone do this? This is the biggest selling feature of the iphone to me. I use ical and adress book frequently and right now I dont even bother with the 'contacts' in my current phone. I find it to cumbersome to add, edit, etc numbers and would much rather do it on a keyboard then sync it. Riht now I carry an ipod touch for the adress book and ical features aswell as the ipod plus the phone. I would like to combine everything into one phone. So does anyone have any experience with the software for the blackberry and mac? Any screenshots of how it works and ease of use?

Edit: The software mentioned above is called PocketMac.

I currently use the Palm Centro (available with both At&T and Sprint). It synchs with Mac (Leopard) beautifully. I use Missing Sync software and installing it and running it are both a snap.

BB works nice on the mac but really needs Markspace. As for the iphone, maybe hold on there is a rumor that Rogers could release it this quarter. (Note, I don't think that this has been confirmed by apple so take it with a grain salt)

I wouldnt bet my money on Pocketmac to do the address book and ical. Pocketmac works well with BB with OS Version 4.2, that is upto BB8310. Later models have the new BB 4.5/4.6 OS and that seems to struggle with the Mac. Plus new Leopard does mixed results when connected to the newer BB using Pocketmac. I would go with Missing Sync and see what they can offer. It is not free though!

You can look at www.chumedh.com/bbwiki for some screens shots. This website is mostly to do with Windows and BB, but I did find some useful articles and user guides with screen shots for the Mac!

Cheers and hope that resolves your querry

I have never had any problems with PocketMac and my BB Curve 8310. I don't know why people always complain about it.

Yea wait till June 9th.

The new version is rumored to have GPS, 3G, SMS, Camera on front for iChat video conferencing, and cost less. It's shiny black instead of silver. I'm getting one the day they come out as a late birthday present...(birthdays June 4th, I'll have to hold off 5 days!!)

Problem is they might still not be available in Canada. I am gonna hold off a few months in hopes of a release in Canada. This is getting annoying. Ive been waiting this this phone with a pay as you go plan since the iphone came out in the US. I dont want to get into a 1-3 year contract know as soon as I do the iphone will be available but ive been waiting forever now.

to bring this thread back to the original question. pocket mac sync works great. i can not provide screen shots because i no longer have the program as i switched from my blackberry to an iphone.

if i remember correctly once you set all your preferences all you have to do is open the pocket mac program and click sync. it will let you know if there are any conflicts.

the same or less. Apple never raises the prices of products with an updated release.
