How about letting us know the fix in case someone else has a similar problem.

It was my fault, i had accidentally turned the sound off in the pull down control centre . I often open that when i am scrolling for some thing, a pain actually.

If you go to Settings - Control Centre

You can turn off "Access Within Apps". That way you won't accidentally bring it up unless your on the home or lock screen.
