Is the connector the only difference or did Apple add other features? The original "New" iPad is no longer on the web site for comparison.

The iPad 4 (or iPad 3+)…whatever it's being called...has a better/faster processor.

From what I read the 4 has
Lightening port
Better camera
Faster chip A6 vs A5

I just bought the 3 about 4 months ago for my doctorate program and I'm upset now because I like having the latest and greatest.

15" MBP 2.0 Quad-Core 8GB Ram 7200RPM 500GB HD
64GB iPad 3 (I refuse to call it the new iPad)
64GB I5

You can't sell the iPad 3 and get the iPad 4?

I think it caught everyone by surprise. Since there has been so many leaks on Apple products lately, IE. iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini.

The 4th gen also sports a different 4g LTE chip so that those in Europe are able to actually use it, vs not being able to with the third gen. WiFi is also faster, as it supports dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, with support for channel bonding to achieve download speeds of up to 150Mbps.

It is also said to be a bit thinner, but we shall see about that. Also said to have the innards designed a bit differently, so as to address the supposed "heat issues" people griped about with the third gen.
