Hey guys. Bought a new 4g 32 iPad. Capacity is 27.9 gig.
Is everyone's else like this?
Seems like a lot of gig to lose.

I have the 64GB model, and I lost roughly a GB of capacity moving from the iPad 2. My guess is that the Retina Display graphics consume a bit more data for the built-in apps. Hence, the loss of storage. Maybe next year's model will finally offer a bump in storage capacity. I would like a 128GB model for all my music and photos.

adz: judging from my previous model as well as the new one, what you're seeing is perfectly normal. If the drive is 32GB, where exactly do you think the OS is supposed to reside? I too am seeing 28GB available, so the OS is taking up 4GB.

As J.Fo said, the new apps will be slightly bigger and the OS artwork is bigger, etc. ISTR that the iPad 1 took up maybe just a bit less space than this one.
