Calendar entry no longer editable on iPhone after Mobile Me Sync

Hello. I have my iPhone's calendar synced with iCal on my Mac which is in turn synced with my calendar on Mobile Me. All works well with one exception. Once an appointment is fully synced across all three copies of the calendar it can no longer be edited on the iPhone. Does anyone know if this is by design or perhaps a configurable behavior?
