New to the forum. How do I determine how much of the 16 GB storage capacity on my iPad has been used at any moment in time?

Two ways. One, plug it into iTunes and it'll tell you the total amount used and remaining. Another option is on the iPad itself. Click on Settings --> General --> About and it'll give you the remaining space.
