Will probably be taking it back in. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. Place your vote for our Member of the Month |

So after I posted my problem here i went over to apple.com to check out the trouble shooting suggestions and their forums. I was very frustrated as any video be it YouTube, netflix, abc player, would only run for about 3-5 minutes before causing my iPad to completely freeze up requiring me to reset it. The rest took much longer than it normal would to turn the iPad on. Anyways, so I was surprised to find a thread on apple.com over 13 pages long with people reporting the exact same problem. The only apparent fix was to return it because it is a hardware issue. The last thing i wanted to do was drive down to the apple store and try and get a replacement. However, I demonstrated my iPad freezing for the apple rep and he stated, "this isn't a wide spread problem but Some have been affected and it is a hardware issue" and he quickly swapped mine out for a new one. I have since left my iPad playing video via Netflix and abc player for over 5 hours and have had zero freezes. So take home message, if you are experiencing the same problem I would try and get a replacement as it is a hardware issue and not something a software update can amend.

Did yours only happen with streaming content or with video in iTunes also? I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. Place your vote for our Member of the Month |

I read a post in the apple.com forums from a person who was having the same problem, so he took it to Apple store froze, and they prompty replaced his iPad. Apple for sure is aware that there is a select number of "faulty" ipads that cant handle video playback. Mine would freeze with any video that lasted longer than 3-5 minutes including video in iTunes and a home movie I made on iMovie and then imported to iTunes. It was incredibly frustrating. However, this one is functioning perfect. No video so far, be it streaming via wifi or 3G, or media content in iTunes has has caused any problems!
