So i get the iPad and i have a mac with the G4 processor so there's no way I'm going to even be able to use my iPad until it can connect to a mac with the appropriate OS. So a friend uses his to set it up and everything comes on, I take it home and am messing around with it, notice i'm getting down to 78% battery life and plug it into the wall......as soon as I do it gives me the "plug into iTunes" picture and I can no longer use my iPad again?!!! Is this right? If I'm traveling and this happens I'm going to be t totally ******.
I planned on buying a suitable mac but don't want to have to do it right away! Any one out there with the expertise to assist? |

Sounds like a fluke to me, I'd take it into the apple store and have them give you a new one. How old is your G4? Are you sure it didn't just need iTunes 9.1?

I don't know about the PPC computers and newest versions of iTunes, but you should definitely not have that wall charging issue. Since a wall charger is basically the only way to charge, you shouldn't have to re-sync every time you charge it.

Just take the G4 back and tell Apple to give you a new one to sync with your iPad. Problem solved.

If your G4 has an 867mhz G4 processor (or faster) then it can run OS 10.5 "Leopard" (you need to buy this if you don't already have it)...and then you would need to do a software update to OS 10.5.8. And you would need a USB 2.0 port. Hope this helps, - Nick - Computer slow, too many "beachballs", read this: Beachballs - Computer seems slower than it used to? DO NOT register the iPad on someone elses iTunes, it will cause issues later on. Just ask them to activate it in the Apple store and you can then use it just fine.
Incidentally, you don't even need the latest iTunes to do this - when I activated mine in the Apple store, the MacBook they plugged it into said it did not support the devices, he clicked OK and it was activated. |

The last G4 imac was discontinued in July 2004. I knew your date was wrong cause I bought my C2D imac from the store online in 2006.
