    Unregistering from iMessage
    I switched off iMessage in my iPhone's settings on Sunday, as Apple suggests to decouple my phone from their servers. However, it's been three days and I'm still not receiving text messages from my iPhone contacts. Is this normal? When my sister did it she said it disconnected her almost immediately, while I've read other accounts that said it could take a while. At what point should I contact Apple about this issue? Or is that something I'm supposed to have done anyway?

    iOS has this weird tendency to assume that once someone owns an Apple device, they always will and therefore, it'll attempt to send iMessages forever. You should probably tell your iPhone using contacts to make sure that they're sending you texts and not iMessages.

    Thanks. I told the people I most frequently text via iMessage with about the situation, so we're resorting to alternatives for the time being. I'm expecting to take delivery of my Blackberry tomorrow, which is why I switched iMessage off (what I thought was enough) ahead of time. If things are squared away by tomorrow I suppose I'll call Apple and sort it out, unless there are any additional steps anyone would like to suggest.
