    iPad 2 / IOS 6 ?
My daughter has never updated her iPad 2. It is on IOS 4 I think. I'd like to get her updated to IOS 6, but I realize that IOS 7 is current. Is there a way? Is there a way?

Turn on the iPad, and check for updates. Make sure the iPad is either attached to your Mac and shows up in iTunes, or you have a good steady WiFi connection. It would also be a good idea to backup all the data on the iPad before updating.

Create a iTunes back up as suggested by chscag and when you connect it to iTunes, it should prompt you about the update. However, since iOS 7 is supported on the iPad 2, that's the version it'll want to upgrade to. I don't think there is any way to upgrade just to iOS 6..
