"The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3)."

I got that message everytime I try to restore my phone. Does anyone know what error code 3 means?

Welcome to Mac-Forums..

That doesn't seem to be one of the regular error messages that pops up often and a few have suggested it might be related to the USB cable or port? Can you try different ports and USB cables and even different computers to see if the problem goes away?

I have the exact same issue. About 90 percent through the restore it starts hangs, looks as if it's about to complete the restore and then stops and gives out the error number (3). Apple doesn't even have a (3) listed on their website's list of error codes. Different usb, different computer and different usb ports didn't help.
