How much space does iCloud backup use? I can't afford more than the free five gigabytes I am given.

Does it store music? Or just apps, data? Does it store photos?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of icloud v. iTunes backup?

iCloud backup stores the following items:

Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
App data
Home screen and app organization
Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
Ringtones
Visual Voicemails

iTunes backup will do the same things, but you just need to remember to plug in and do it. iCloud is the way for me as the device is rarely connected to my Mac.

Unaswerable, since it depends heavily on what you do with your iOS device.

1. No, but it makes a note of what you've bought from iTunes (does not store any iTunes items, just notes them so that you can re-download for free)
2. It makes a note of what apps you have and saves the data but not the app itself.
3. Everything in the Camera Roll. Photo Stream photos aren't counted against your limit.

Main iCloud advantage: free, easy, independent of a computer
Main iCloud disadvantage: limited space.

Main iTunes advantage: backs up everything, no real storage limit (except your hard drives)
Main iTunes disadvantage: slow by comparison
