All I want to do is have an icon on my iphone screen which shows one or more numbers very clearly, similar to the way the calendar icon shows the date. The number or numbers would be manually input, but if it could pull the contents of a cell from a spreadsheet in Numbers, that would be even better.

Many thanks.

The purpose would be just a little motivational tool. The number would be the number of km or hours running left in a marathon training program.

Perhaps, something like RunKeeper which is a full featured app that uses the GPS and has a lot of tracking would be more useful than a simple application that just shows a number..

Runkeeper looks terrific - many thanks for that. I'm very fond of Cyclemeter for mapping and timing.

I just had an idea that it'd be cool to have a big countdown on the screen, always there, looming...
