I just got the new ipad 16gb wifi. I am thinking of getting the tomtom app but do you need to have the 3g for this app.

I wouldnt have thought so as tomtom has the maps built in, its not like google maps where you need to be online to retrieve maps....

You probably need the LTE feature in order for the GPS app to work properly. The built in maps are great but if Tom-Tom can't pinpoint your location when you're out of range or there is no WiFi signal, then what? Anyway, it's best to go to the Tom-Tom site and see what their requirements are.
