Hey,

I'm just a regular user with worms. I wanted to fiddle with Siri on my iPhone 3GS (with 6.15 baseband) before it was actually out. I read all the warnings and chose to ignore them (that's why the worms).

Well, when I installed SiriN1ght from the cydia repo, I rebooted my iPhone and some apps were out of their folders. Ultrasn0w wasn't functional, SBSettings and 5-Icon Dock too (with some other cydia apps non-functional). I still wanted to get Siri, I tried to make it work but I dozed off. When I woke up, I said "Chuck (just being polite here, that's not what I said) Siri, I want my Network". So I uninstalled Siri and now my iPhone won't boot. It gets stuck at the Pineapple logo (when I "Just Boot" usnig redsn0w).

Now, I don't mind restoring at all. Would I be able to restore to iOS 5.0 with a custom firmware?

I can't restore to iOS 5.0.1 because I'd lose the unlock. What do I do?

P.S.: I read somewhere that if I could delete "assistantServices.framework" from system>library>PrivateFrameworks, then I'd be able to boot. So is there some way that I can access my iPhone file system in DFU mode or anyhow in my situation?

Restore it to 5.0 stock using iTunes and leave it be until a reliable unlock can be had.

I am on baseband 6.15. I can't use stock 5.0 firmware. I have to use a custom firmware. Also, hasn't Apple stopped signing 5.0? Will I be able to restore to 5.0?

Ah… I didn't realize you were trying a 5.0.1 unlock. Well I was looking into unlocking my 3GS the other day before selling, and to the best of my understanding, you have no recourse here. The 5.0.1 unlock simply isn't ready for prime-time, as you are finding out. As for rolling back… you may be best off posting in another community forum dedicated to jailbreaking to be sure you are getting the best advice. But here's a couple links I just found that may be of help:

Downgrade 5.0.1 To 4.3.3, 4.3.5, 5.0 iOS iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2, 1, iPod Touch

Restore & Update a Bricked iPhone 3Gs 6.15.00 to iOS 5.0 Firmware - 5.0 Jailbreak/Unlock - YouTube

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear earlier. The only problem I have is that I can't boot my phone after I uninstalled SiriN1ght. I read somewhere that I could boot if I delete "assisstantServices.Framework" folder. But since I can't boot, I can't access my files on the iPhone. What I can do is switch the iPhone off or put it in DFU mode. So I wanted to know if there's any way I could access my iPhone files when it's switched off or in DFU mode.

Alternatively, if not, could I restore my iOS 5.0 (and not 5.0.1) because I read that you can't do it 'cause Apple has stopped signing the iOS 5.0, which forces people to update to 5.0.1 (which isn't an option for me. I just can't upgrade to 5.0.1 because ultrasn0w isn't updated for iOS 5.0.1).

But I think the first link should help. I'm gonna try that and forget about deleting "assisstantServices.Framework".

THANKS for your help

There is a way to access files on an iPhone, though I can't say for sure if you will be able to in the current state of yours. Download iExplorer and give it a whirl. You can actually use it to manually back up and restore application data even on jailed iPhones. For jailbroken ones, you have more extensive access.
iExplorer - Formerly iPhone Explorer, is an iPhone browser for Mac and PC

As far as I know, you are out of luck until a fix can be had, if any. I suggest checking in with a forum dedicated to jailbreaking to be certain. There aren't many members here who keep up with that scene.

Hmmm... I had excact same issue, I rebooted it like 20 times, and it eventually worked(?) But, I'm not sure if I remember how I did it, but I'll try:

Is your iPhone in iOS5 TETHERED jailbreak? Or in something lower? Because in that case I can't help you. But first: Plug in your phone and start iBooty.exe* and press Power and Home for 10 seconds, release the power button, but important: KEEP HOLDING THE HOME FOR 1 MINUTE OR MORE That way, I think, mine started to work. It went to iTunes and I was able to reinstall everything.

*iBooty is sn0wbreeze's reboot program, I don't know Redsn0w's

Hope it helped

Oh, and in case you think that this is normal way to reboot it, not excactly. Your phone should normally start when you keep holding the Home button for 6-10 seconds, but ignore that. Keep it held for 30 seconds-1 minute

The issue is I can't restore to iOS 5.0. Jailbreak or no jailbreak, Apple has stopped signing iOS 5.0 and forces all to update to iOS 5.0.1. Since I have to unlock, I can't go to iOS 5.0.1 'cause ultrasn0w hasn't been updated for iOS 5.0.1. So if I update to 5.0.1, I can't use the "phone (calling)" function. Hence, I need to restore ONLY to iOS 5.0.

I just wanna know, if there's any way to do that.

PS: I have already downgraded to 4.3.3. So anyway I can get to iOS 5.0 now?
