How to backup game saves to iCloud?

How exactly do we do that? Is there a way to set backup so that it only backs up game saves to iCloud or do you have to backup everything? I was looking to this for the duel iphone/ipad apps but continue using my computer to manually backup my data.

Also, while on the subject....is it possible to create a manual backup of my ipad/iphone so that I don't have to reload all my music/comics/movies etc. My understanding is that those things are not synced to icloud so you would have to reload them in the event of a product restore.

How is everyone else handling all the new syncing options?
