For whatever reason, my iPhone is displaying one contact's birthday three times! When it was duplicated, I tried removing the contact from my iPhone and my Address Book and then re-adding it, but all that did was add a third birthday reminder. There's only one event in my iCal and only one birthday listed in my Address Book.

Any idea what is doing on? I find it strange that this is only happening for (as far as I can tell) one person.

Hello,
I am assuming that you are syncing over iCloud?

If so this can normally be solved by entering your

iPhone/Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars/Default Calendar and unchecking any calendars under the the 'On My iPhone' banner

To avoid further confusion, under the 'iCloud' banner in the same pane just leave 'Calendar' checked. This is the default 'catch-all' for everything in iCal regardless of sub-categories of calendar.

Also check in iTunes under Your iPhone/Info/Sync iCal Calendars that the main heading tick-box is un-checked and that you have 'All calendars' checked.
