    Unhappy safari
    i have lion os installed on my iMac 2007. the show download icon in the top right corner of the screen has disappeared and i have not been able to retrieve it back. i have used disc utility to repair the hard drive and have also reinstalled lion as well as safari but to no avail. please advise....

    It reappears when you are actually downloading something.

    Imac 27" Retina 5K, 512GB flash memory, 3.3GHz, 16GB memory, macOS Sierra beta.
    Or whenever there is anything remaining after download and before you hit the 'Clear' button.
    Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
