I'm looking for a good/cheap (less than 5$) iOS app to use in class for recording lectures.

Its a small room so i feel confident that the mic will pick up everything.. any ideas?

preferably one that runs in Airplane mode.. so it won't be interrupted with notifications and other stuff.

Is there something about the Voice Memo app that comes with iOS that fails to meet your needs?

Evernote, it's free and multi-platform.

There is a free app for that. "iclass" Been using it for long. works perfectly!! :-)
Evernote is also good as it can be synced with the pc.
