iTunes is "unable to read the contents" of my iPod.For a while now, everytime I try to sync my iPod to iTunes, a message pops up saying that iTunes is unable to read the contents of my iPod and that I should restore it to return it to it's factory settings. I would prefer not to restore it because it is jailbroken and restoring it would un-jailbreak it. Also, recently it seems like my iPod has been losing memory randomly for no reason. Perhaps if I manage to sync it to iTunes, the memory problem will go away. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me solve this. Thank you in advance.

I suspect the jailbreaking may have caused this. I would restore it and then break it again if you want it that way.

If I restore it will restore it to 4.2 and I can't jailbreak that.

Why? It is perfectly possible.

No idea. I never reboot my iPod. What exactly do you mean by that?
