It's not an app for iOS, but it's built into many TVs, blu-ray players, and set-top boxes.

I have Dish Network and recently purchased the slingbox adapter ($99). On the iPad (and PC, Mac, Android....) downloaded the Dish Remote app (free) I am able to stream everything including what is on the DVR. I believe that Slingbox has a stand alone version but the app is more expensive for that one.

Anybody else using the Comcast app? I use it about as much as Netflix. It doesn't have quite the same library as the On-Demand system... there are some movies and shows that are only available on the iPad or only On-Demand on the cable box. However, I have found that the quality is nice... the interface is a little nicer than Netflix in some ways... worse in others. It will ONLY work on wifi.

There is one dangerous thing: there are lots of soft-core adult shows available (HBO, Cinemax, etc). Beware of the sticky iPad!

The Comcast app will also change channels on any of your cable boxes and will schedule DVR recordings, although you cannot watch what is on your DVR from the iPad. Starting an On-Demand show from the iPad (watching it on TV) requires you to press the enter/select button on the Comcast remote.

One thing I have noticed, however, is that the lower channel numbers are sometimes wrong on my iPad app. I think the app has me as being on the wrong Comcast network. I live right at the border between two different services, and it goes by zip code. I'm going to talk to Comcast and see if I can get that straightened out.

If you have cable or dish at home just use Slingbox.

We have Comcast for our cable provider as well. I use the free app from Comcast daily. There are more episodes of the tv shows I love available in that app than I can access in the On-Demand feature on my tv. With the XFinity and Netflix app, I have no problem finding shows to watch at anytime.

I have has some problems with the XFinity app crashing on the iPad 2 but it seems to have gotten better and doesn't happen as often now.

I'd say slingbox or, if you have a Mac or PC that you can get a TV feed to you culd get an Elegato tuner and use the EyeTV app to re-broadcast to your iPad.
Not been around these parts for a while. Trying to change that . .
