Go for the pro. it has a built in optical drive (so you don't have to stuff one in your bag) and the cheapest pro has almost double the processor speed and RAM of the most expensive air. Those differences do matter. Upgraded ram means more work done at a time, and faster processor means that it can do that work more times in a second.
