Anyone who plays guitar would do well to go to iTunes and search for PolyTune.
It allows you to tune all six strings together. You just strum the open strings and it graphically indicates which strings are sharp or flat. If you then tune one string, it automatically switches to single string mode. At the moment it's free, but after 25,000 downloads will be $10.00. It's excellent.
