cydia wont install apps

cydia crashes back to springboard whenever you try to install or upgrade anything. there is no openssh or terminal access. i would like to do this without rejailbreaking.

Jailbreaking voids your warranty, may result in a bricked ipod upon software update and gets no support from Apple or this forum.
