Could the iPad Tablet's OS run on the iPad Tablet if it had this hardware change?

Hardware now

Processor and Memory
1GHz Apple A4 custom-designed, high-performance, low-power system-on-a-chip

Storage and Capacity
16GB, 32GB, or 64GB flash drive

Graphics
none

New hardware

Processor and Memory
1.86GHz or 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed
1066MHz frontside bus
2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM onboard

Storage and Capacity
120GB 4200-rpm Serial ATA hard disk drive or 128GB solid-state drive

Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

Your question needs clarification. Are you asking if the iPad's OS will run on a regular computer?

Not likely since it doesn't use an Intel processor and as such, it would have to be recompiled to work with it (if it could).

Yes it has been done and funny funny no one is rushing out to buy one. Doesn't that say something to the people who want their ipads to be mini touch screen Mac Pros.

OS X as nice as it is is too heavy for what the tablet is designed and intended for. Eventually people will understand the nature of where technology is leading. THINK THINCLIENT. longer battery life and a more intimate experience for the user. THe IPAD is the beginning of that threshold we are crossing.
