Hi guys, My name's Tom and I'm from the UK, this is my first post so be gentle with me

I've recently been experiencing some problems with my iPhone Mail app.
I use email a LOT, more so than SMS due to the fact that it's free Currently the default email account is my Hotmail one. I am also running Mail Notifier app alongside, to notify me as soon as I have received new mail.

Basically the problem is as follows:
I will receive a new email fine, press 'reply' and type my reply in the text area. When I have finished I then obviously press 'send'. Now the problem begins... As soon as I press 'send' the iPhone freezes, then perhaps 10-30 seconds later flashes back to my inbox, and then sends the mail (the progress bar is along the bottom of the screen). Recently, the freezing has become longer and longer, to the extent that I cannot send mail any more.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Tom.

Hello and welcome aboard.

It's sounds to me it's not your iPhone at fault but hotmail. As long as you have good signal when sending the email then it's all about the hotmail email server. Try getting a gmail account and see hoe that goes.

Now with that said even gmail can take a bit to send but I have yet to see it not send.

Hope this helps

Hi Clay,

Thanks for the response. I've had a Gmail account for a while, and I've never used it. I've just changed all the settings to swap from my Hotmail to Gmail, and I have sent & received 4 emails perfectly so far... Mail Notifier notifies me immediately too...

Problem solved it seems! Thank you very, very much have a happy new year!

Just to add,

I now actually think the reason was I had too many previous messages within the email, i.e. the conversation is too long as I was simply clicking reply each time. (emails are to the same person) So this may be a memory issue...

Now I have kept the number of emails a lot lower and they've been sending fine...
