I need help! Recently my Mac based IPod broke and I purchased a used IBM based IPod. It is a 160 GB unit and the previous owner had loaded upwards to 75 GB of songs on it. What I need to know is, how do I extract the .mp3s and videos and put them on my desktop mac, so that I can reformat the unit in the mac format. My Desktop Mac is a G4 running MAC OS 10.4.11

For starters, it's not "IBM based," it's a Windows formatted iPod. Second, if you didn't pay for that music, then extracting it would be illegal. Since you mentioned that it came preloaded from the previous owner, it's safe to assume that you did not pay for the music and as such, we cannot help you engage in illegal conduct here at Mac-Forums.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics! |

I should have stated in my request that the one option that it gave me was to transfer purchased songs from the IPod to my ITunes, there was none, so I believe all the music on it was loaded through cds, so is this disimilar from purchasing used cd's, I don't think so. So I should be entitled to transfer them from my IPod to ITunes.
