my itouch wants me to connect to itunes, but i am away from my computer for about a week, is there a way i could reset my itouch?

You can't, sorry. The iPod Touch and every iPod and iPhone needs to be connected to iTunes directly after purchase to receive vital information (I think). If you bought it a long time ago, I don't really know what the issue is.
